xtina: Salute to everyone out there who is currently using their voices and platforms to bring the necessary attention around the racism, bigotry and deeply rooted hatred that is fueling violence in our country. RIP to #GeorgeFloyd, #AhmaudArbery #BreonnaTaylor, and others whose stories are not being amplified by the media but have lost their lives to race-driven brutality. I’m deeply saddened by this. This is a huge problem, that we, Americans, need to fight to fix.

MOVED by this speech— by Terrence Floyd, George Floyd’s brother. ⁣

When the president retreats and everyone is left with no proper speech of hope, unity or reassurance, THIS is what we all needed to hear!⁣

Voting is what really counts, let us not forget. Supporting and hearing each other in peace and uniting without tearing one another down will move change in a positive direction. #BlackLivesMatter #Vote

Xtina también se unió al movimiento #BlackoutTuesday iniciado por la industria musical para hacer un “apagón” durante todo el día para crear conciencia y unirse a las manifestaciones desatadas tras la muerte de George Floyd.

xtina: #blackouttuesday I will not be posting anything as I stand in solidarity and support with #BlackLivesMatter - as the music industry takes the day to reflect on how we can all work towards a better future. TheShowMustBePaused

Today is #Bionic’s 10 year anniversary and Lift Me Up is a song about extending your hand and helping another get through hardship. Fighters, keep fighting. (drone by @yakooza)

Aprovechando el movimiento en apoyo a la comunidad afro en todo el mundo, Aguilera explicó en una publicación cómo artistas negros la influenciaron e inspiraron a ser cantante y a producir un álbum llamado Back To Basics en honor a ellos.

xtina: As an artist, I’ve been inspired by so many of the greats that came before me. Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Billie Holiday, the list goes on. The list is in these lyrics, #BackInTheDay. I discovered these artists as a child when my grandmother and mother used to take me into the city of Pittsburgh where we’d spend hours sifting through old vinyl records - this is where my love and appreciation for music truly began.
It was an education and an inspiration that I would continue exploring - and eventually translate into an album of dedication I made with @djpremier, called #BackToBasics, paying homage & utmost respect to some of the greatest musicians and artists of all time. The voices that paved the way for mine. It’s so important I amplify these voices - these strong Black men and women artists are my forever inspiration. #AmplifyBlackVoices

xtina:

As proud as I am of my family’s military background, I have also unfortunately witnessed much injustice regarding abuse and violence. And the culture of covering up crimes and turning a blind eye to countless women and their abusers is far too prevalent. I’ve struggled with this reality my whole life - having grown up in an abusive home, surrounded by many women who were fearful of their lives and did not have a clear means to escape or safely get help for themselves and their children. I feel as if I could have known someone like #VanessaGuillen myself. ⁣

It is not easy for women to feel empowered to speak up, to feel confident that they will be supported and heard, especially in situations where they might feel outnumbered...where more often than not, the abusers will be let off just to come back more violent, threatening, and empowered the next time. More of us need to band together to give voice to these victims. We need to speak up and hold abusers and predators accountable before it happens to the next innocent person. Refuse to stay silent. ⁣

I pray for changes to be made. I remember myself once living in fear and longing for better. My mother was one of the luckier ones. And so was I.⁣

I will continue to use my voice and be an advocate for victims of abuse to feel it is ok to speak up and demand to be heard. To know that you’re not alone. To know that it is not ok to be abused, harassed, or to live in fear of your life.⁣

Praying for the family of #VanessaGuillen. Praying for change within our systems. <3 #JusticeForVanessaGuillen
